On behalf of our client, Grand River Personnel is recruiting an experienced Press Set-Up Operator for a full-time opportunity in Waterloo. This is a skilled manufacturing position—not an entry-level machine operator role.

We are seeking an experienced manufacturing professional with recent hands-on press set-up and tooling changeover experience who is looking for a long-term opportunity with a stable employer. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate strong job stability, reliability, and a consistent employment history.

Applicants without recent press set-up or tooling changeover experience will not be considered. This position is not open to students.

This is a FULL-TIME, permanent role with an established business and great incentives.

Hours of Work:

Monday – Thursday: 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Fridays: 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (during peak production)

Pay Rate: $23.11/hr

Responsibilities:

- Set up, adjust, and safely operate automated press equipment
- Complete tooling and die changeovers to support production schedules
- Install tooling and equipment for upcoming production runs
- Clean presses, tooling, dies, and surrounding equipment between production runs
- Produce first-off samples and obtain Quality approval before production begins
- Perform in-process inspections using Vernier calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and production documentation
- Monitor product quality, identify defects, troubleshoot issues, and make machine adjustments as required
- Coordinate production changeovers with Material Handlers to minimize uptime loss
- Follow all quality, safety, and production procedures




- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and perform other related duties as required

Requirements:

- Minimum two (2) years of recent experience performing press set-ups, tooling changeovers, or machine set-ups in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in metal stamping, press operations, or metal fabrication
- Demonstrated job stability with previous employers. Preference will be given to candidates with a consistent employment history showing reliability and long-term commitment
- Strong quality inspection experience using Vernier calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
- Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and identify quality issues
- Working knowledge of manufacturing quality standards and continuous improvement practices
- Overhead crane experience is considered a robust asset
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent attendance, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality
- CSA-approved safety footwear required
