Our organization - Karate Olympic Centre is recognized as one of the leading karate clubs in Canada, serving approximately 200 active students across recreational and high-performance programs. Since 2023, we have developed and supported more than 14 national-level athletes representing Canada at National Championships, Pan American Championships, and World Championships. In addition to our competitive success, we are strongly committed to serving and positively impacting our local community through youth development, leadership initiatives, and accessible sport programs.

As our programs continue to expand, we have identified the need to hire an experienced professional karate coach who can further strengthen our athlete development pathway and support our growing membership base.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

- Plan, organize, and deliver technical karate instruction for athletes of all ages and skill levels.
- Lead and coach competitive athletes preparing for provincial, national, and international competitions, with the goal of representing their province or Canada.
- Develop and oversee the organization's NextGen Program, identifying and developing future high-performance, national, and international athletes to represent their province or Canada in competition.
- Develop comprehensive training programs that integrate technical, tactical, physical, and mental development.
- Evaluate the performance of athletes and junior coaches,



and provide individualized coaching and feedback to support their long-term development.
- Mentor assistant coaches and junior instructors while maintaining consistent coaching standards across programs.
- Apply internationally recognized high-performance coaching methodologies and athlete development strategies to prepare athletes for provincial, national, and international competition.
- Conduct strength, conditioning, agility, and sport-specific physical preparation in support of competitive performance.
- Assist in competition planning, athlete selection, tournament preparation, and coaching during competitions.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and positive training environment that supports athlete development and community engagement.
- Support the continued growth of Karate Olympic Centre through program development, coach education, and community outreach initiatives.

Qualifications

- Minimum 5 years of experience coaching competitive karate athletes.
- Degree or higher in Sport Psychology, Sport Science, Physical Education, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with national or international high-performance athletes,



including coaching and/or providing sport psychology and performance support to junior and senior national-team athletes preparing for internationally recognized competitions.
- Minimum 5 years of experience competing at or working with elite international-level karate athletes, including participation in World Karate Championships, Karate 1 Premier League, or other internationally recognized competitions.
- Experience in athlete physical conditioning and long-term athlete development.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with athletes, coaches, parents, and club management.
- Hold a recognized Karate certification issued by a national or international karate federation or governing body.
- Extensive experience competing in and/or coaching athletes for World Karate Championships, Continental Championships, Karate 1 Premier League events, or other internationally recognized elite karate competitions, with demonstrated success at the international level.

Education

- Degree or higher in Sport Psychology, Sport Science, Physical Education, or a related field.
- Recognized Karate certification from a national or international karate governing body.

Other Requirements

- Valid CPR Certification.
- Valid Standard First Aid Certification.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (if required).

Pay: $36.92 per hour
