The base salary will be $67,680 - $96,590 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

About Us

eLearning & Information Services develops and delivers a broad range of (academic and other) services to enhance the student and faculty experience at Western Education and with our campus partners. By working in highly collaborative ways with all stakeholder/client groups and through multiple sources of performance data and feedback, we seek opportunities and ways to refine existing services and to create new ones in the pursuit of service excellence.

Responsibilities

The Programmer/Analyst will be responsible for providing application development expertise for various projects within the Faculty of Education. The Programmer/Analyst will support and work with various clients to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software applications and web pages that address the Faculty’s strategic needs. The Programmer/Analyst will provide support for the applications, and assist with planning for hardware and software enhancements to ensure functionality and the needs of faculty, staff and students are met. In addition, the Programmer/Analyst will participate in short and long range planning of the delivery of programming services,



with a focus on identifying opportunities for technological and process improvements. The Programmer/Analyst will ensure the latest techniques and strategies are used, and provide recommendations to clients regarding the planning and delivery of services.

Qualifications

Education:

- 3 year Community College Diploma in Computer Programming
- Search Engine Optimization certification preferred
- Google Analytics certification preferred

Experience:
- 3 years of experience in working in the applications development field
- Experience with application development technologies in an academic IT environment preferred
- Experience with Cascade CMS preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Familiarity with system administration, including computer networks, operating systems, and applications software
- In-depth knowledge of programming languages, computer coding, current internet technologies and best practices in developing test cases and test plans (including HTML, CSS, XML, XSLT, Velocity, and knowledge of SQL and Javascript)
- Ability to adapt to change and master new technical and organization concepts and processes
- Communication skills to describe technical concepts effectively to both novice and sophisticated users
- Ability to write clear, concise and accurate procedural documentation
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Ability to provide solutions and ideas for improvement by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required
- Ability to understand customer needs and expectations and provide excellent customer service to directly and indirectly satisfy expectations




- Ability to follow formal business practices with high attention to detail
- Ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments
- Commitment to ongoing professional development with a desire to take on new challenges
- Computer skills with the ability to creatively use and integrate technology to improve quality and productivity
- Excellent troubleshooting ability along with hands-on expertise in technical support
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite; skills with RAMP, Active Directory, Google Analytics, and Cascade and JIRA preferred
- Demonstrated ability take initiative, to work independently and follow through on work assignments
- Ability to prioritize and organize a fluctuating work load
- Problem solving skills with a sense of urgency in resolving issues and getting tasks completed
- Project management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and perform well under pressure
- Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
