Location Cambridge, ON, CA Operating Sector Finance Position Title Project Accountant What is the Opportunity?
Aecon
Nuclear is a leader in nuclear infrastructure, currently undertaking replacement of key components at the Darlington and Bruce Power plants, and developing the construction plan for SMR facilities. Reporting directly to the Project Finance Manager, the Project Accountant will be responsible for ensuring proper tracking, analysis and forecasting of project costs and providing job costing information to project management. What You’ll Do Here:
- Enter client billings into the applicable system.
- Work closely with the Finance Manager in preparing monthly progress invoices to clients.
- Assist in compiling contract billings, managing change orders and subcontracts.
- Assist with the review of project cost reports and developing Estimated Costs at Completion (ECAC).
- Assist with accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing, payroll and prepare financial reports.
- Assist with audits – financial, internal control & tax.
- Assist with month‑end close and prepare necessary journal entries.
- Prepare and enter month‑end accruals and cost transfers.
- Prepare monthly related reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and yearly financial statements, supporting schedules and reports.
- Assist in the preparation of cash flows for the project.
- Assist in dealing with tax authorities, unions, suppliers & sub‑contractors.
- Participate in the preparation of project forecasts and quarterly/annual business plans and budgets for the project.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
- 3+ years of experience; pursuit of CPA designation considered an asset.
- Experience with SAP, BPC and Business Objects is valued.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to balance and prioritize multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in construction or related industry considered an asset. Reason for Vacancy Recent Expected Pay Range $70,000 – $80,000 per year Benefits - Services supporting mental, emotional, and physical well‑being.
