Summary of the role
The Property Manager is responsible for the safe, compliant,
and cost-effective management of the organization’s physical assets, including 16 licensed group homes and a central head office facility located in Richmond Hill. The role ensures all properties meet or exceed requirements under the Ontario Fire Code, Ontario Building Code, municipal by‑laws, and applicable Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) expectations and are inspection‑ready at all times. Operating within a non‑profit developmental services workplace, the Property Manager plays a key role in protecting the health and safety of individuals supported, staff, and visitors while supporting licensing, inspections, and audits through proactive facility management and documentation.
What you will do
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and overall condition of all organizational properties to ensure safe, functional, and well‑maintained facilities.
- Ensure compliance with the Ontario Fire Code, including maintaining fire safety plans, coordinating inspections, testing, and fire protection system maintenance.
- Liaise with municipal fire departments and regulatory bodies to address inspections, orders, and compliance requirements.
- Ensure all residences and facilities meet MCCSS licensing, inspection, and physical premises standards,
as well as applicable health, safety, and accessibility legislation.
- Prepare, maintain, and organize documentation required for regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Conduct regular facility inspections, identify risks and deficiencies, and implement corrective actions and maintenance plans.
- Source, evaluate, and manage contractors and vendors, ensuring compliance with licensing, insurance, WSIB, safety, and quality requirements.
- Develop and monitor property maintenance budgets, track expenditures, identify cost‑saving opportunities, and support long‑term capital planning.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, fire safety systems, permits, inspections, and facility condition assessments, and provide regular reports to leadership.
- Collaborate with operational leaders and support teams to address urgent property issues, support service delivery, and advance accessibility and organizational improvement initiatives.
