Position Summary

The Inpatient Unit at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital in Picton is a 23 bed medical unit delivering compassionate, patient centered care in a supportive rural environment. Our team is known as a small unit with a big heart, working closely together, along with physicians and our Physician Assistant, to manage complex medical cases and provide high quality care. We also operate a weekday Medical Day Clinic and collaborate closely with Ontario Health at Home to support effective discharge planning and community connections. Staff benefit from a strong culture of learning, supported by a dedicated Clinical Resource Nurse and Professional Practice team, as well as opportunities for cross training in the Emergency Department, in charge roles, and broader care experiences. Most staff work 12 hour day and night shifts, with some 8 hour options available. Ideal candidates are adaptable, team oriented, and strong communicators.

This is an exciting time to join the team as a brand new, state of the art hospital is currently being built to replace the existing facility, further enhancing care and opportunities for staff and patients alike.

Required

- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.

- Completion of Coronary Care 1 or equivalent (ex. Cardio Concepts) or able obtain within 6 months.

- Current CPR, BLS, or BCLS certificate.

- Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) available to review)

- Must have a satisfactory Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Check

Duties

- Provision of care for patients within an interprofessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education.

- Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgement necessary for care of acute medical patients.

- Teaching and coaching to patients and families.





- Maintains nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.

- Practicing in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards and best practices within the nursing profession.

- Maintaining professional competence by completing regular professional development including annual training and education as indicated.

- Participates in unit/dept. and hospital quality improvement initiatives.

- Adheres to a safe and healthy workplace and maintains a safe and healthy work setting through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adherence to health and safety-related policies and procedures.

- Adapts and adheres to the values of Quinte Health while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience.

- Other duties as assigned.
