Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinician Teacher

Oncology/Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Program

McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences are inviting applications for a clinician educatorin Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R;) to join the Musculoskeletal/Oncology Rehabilitation Team at the Juravinski Hospital. This position is best suited for those who have experience in cancer rehab, bone, joint, muscle and cardiovascular rehabilitation. The successful candidate will join a group of highly skilled and motivated physicians and an interprofessional team to supervise inpatient and outpatient care of patients after injury or illness.

The inpatient responsibilities are shared with PM&R; physicians with support of a hospitalist and an interprofessional team with access to a wide range of other specialties at the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre. There is an integrated system of acute care consultation, 22 inpatient MSK rehabilitation beds, 4 inpatient oncology rehab beds, and wellness programs via association with the local YMCA.

We are interested in generating new knowledge and providing support for the development of guidelines and research related to the effects of illness or injury and its treatment on function and quality of life.

The successful candidate will be part of the Department of PM&R; at Hamilton Health Sciences and the Division of PM&R; in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University and will hold a full time faculty appointment within the Division of PM&R; in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University. Rank will be commensurate with experience and expected academic contributions.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the clinical, academic, and research missions of Hamilton Health Sciences and the Division of PM&R;, supporting the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students from the Michael G DeGroote School of Medicine.

Compensation for Clinical Faculty is derived from multiple sources and varies based on clinical activity, speciality, and practice arrangements. Compensation may include a combination of university-based salary, stipends, hospital or partner organization funding, and earnings through clinical practice plans.
