Paqtnkek Mi'kmaw Nation is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and student-focused Social Emotional Teacher to join the Paqtnkek Education Centre team. The successful candidate will foster students' social, emotional, behavioural, and academic success in a safe, inclusive, culturally responsive workplace.
Key Responsibilities Develop and deliver social-emotional learning (SEL) programming. Provide individual and small-group student support. Collaborate with teachers on student success strategies. Develop behaviour support plans. Build positive relationships with families.
Integrate
Mi'kmaw values, language, and culture. Support restorative practices and positive behaviour. Maintain confidential student records. Participate in meetings and professional development. Liaise with community agencies.
Qualifications Bachelor of Education with Nova Scotia Teacher Certification eligibility.
Experience in counselling, social work, psychology, child and youth care, or SEL is an asset. Knowledge of Mi'kmaw culture and experience with Indigenous communities is an asset. Trauma-informed and restorative practice knowledge. Strong communication and organizational skills.
