Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band 3, $24.844 to $29.142 (5 step range) - Note: the pay band is still being evaluated and may be subject to change

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Staff Scheduler is responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing employee work schedules to ensure adequate coverage while balancing organizational needs, labor regulations, and employee availability. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication with staff and management. This role manages the coordination of staff replacements as required for assigned department(s) and/or program(s) based on everyone’s skill sets. This position typically reports to a Supervisor and/or Manager and/or Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

- Grade 12

Experience:

- Twelve (12) months previous staff scheduling experience with collective bargaining agreements to consolidate knowledge and skills.

Skills:

- Competent in the use of computers and Microsoft applications.
- Some judgment and problem-solving skills are required to select the most appropriate action from a limited number of alternatives.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in various stages of completion according to priorities.
- Ability to interpret detailed information and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.




- Human relations skills required to empathize with complaints and/or concerns and establish rapport with staff.
- Robust organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload.
- Creative ability in developing spreadsheets, reports, and information bulletins, etc.
- Ability to work independently.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to operate all types of office equipment.
