Position Summary

Kanex Industries is seeking an experienced Steel Estimator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience estimating structural steel and/or miscellaneous steel fabrication projects. While 5 years of estimating experience is preferred, candidates with less experience and the right skills, knowledge, and motivation are encouraged to apply.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who is knowledgeable about construction drawings, material takeoffs, and project costing.

Key Responsibilities

- Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
- Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for structural and miscellaneous steel projects.
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.




- Prepare competitive bid proposals and tender submissions.
- Collaborate with project managers, detailers, and production teams to ensure accurate project planning.
- Identify project risks and opportunities during the estimating process.
- Maintain estimating records and support continuous process improvements.
- Communicate with clients, consultants, and general contractors regarding project scope and pricing.

Qualifications

- Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in structural steel and/or miscellaneous steel.
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication and installation processes.
- Ability to interpret structural and architectural drawings.
- Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of local construction practices and building codes is an asset.
