Your Chance
In accordance with Letter of Understanding #1 – Student Employees, and under the direct supervision of the Athletics, Recreation and Student Life Coordinator, the Wellness Peer Ambassador organizes, promotes and delivers activities to support student health and wellness.
The Wellness Peer
Ambassador provides information, resources and referrals related to enhancing health and wellness as required in a welcoming and inclusive way.
Functions and Duties
The Student Employee will assist the supervisor by performing the following duties:
1. Assists with the recruitment of student volunteers
2. Stays up-to-date with any health and wellness related resources, services and/or events; refers students accordingly
3. In collaboration with clubs and associations and/or OC departments, organizes social and educational events for OC students with a focus on promoting health and wellness
4. Participates in various OC and Student Life events, including, but not limited to, orientation
5. Provides exceptional customer service, no matter the setting
6.
Attends bi-weekly Wellness Peer Ambassador check-in meetings
7. Completes required online and in-person training
8. Adheres to British Columbia’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) and to all OC policies and guidelines
9. Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Enrolled in a post-secondary program at Okanagan College; students enrolled in health programs will be preferred.
Prior work experience is an asset.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in the use of computer systems and software including Microsoft Office
- Knowledgeable in social media and poster/design programs is an asset
- Comfortable speaking/presenting in front of groups
