This posting will be used to hire up to 8 positions
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one coaching in the Student Success Lounge and via video conferencing software. Coaching includes providing students with information about The University and university life including, but not limited to: research skills, accessing information from the library, scheduling, assignment outlines, and providing information about campus resources such as tutoring and other services.
- Participate in Study Skills presentations, and other events as needed.
- Host ‘Drop-in Coaching” to connect with students who wish to discuss their academic needs.
- Assist with A&CS; office duties and programming as required.
- Provide research support for Student Success Advisors.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to confidentiality policies laid out by The University of Winnipeg and FIPPA.
Note: Time commitment varies depending on the time of year. However, coaches are expected to be available for up to 6 hours per week during each term.
Qualifications:
- Must be a full time student (9 credit hours per term) at The University of Winnipeg with at least 45 credit hours completed.
- A track record of successful study habits and a CGPA of at least 3.0.
- Ability to work August 24, 2026 to April 30, 2027.
- Demonstrated ability to assist other students with development of study skills, such as:
- - Using time management tools
- Creating study plans
- Setting goals
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) are required for explaining concepts and procedures.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to provide encouragement, listen and recognize opportunities, as well as challenges.
- Exhibit cultural competence when interacting with students from various backgrounds.
An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.
Condition(s) of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Must be available to work variable hours Monday – Friday.
