ATS Services is currently seeking a Surface Weather Observer to join our team at the Masset, British Columbia Contract Weather Office- No relevant experience needed but you must live in Masset or be able to commute to the Masset airport for work. We will organize to send you for the required training so you can join our team.
Surface Weather Observers play a vital role in Canada’s aviation sector by providing accurate and timely meteorological information. Working in a Contract Weather Office (CWO), you’ll perform hourly and special weather observations to maintain current weather conditions and ensure safe air operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe and record meteorological data such as:
- Cloud type, height, and coverage
- Visibility and precipitation type/amount
- Wind speed and direction
- Temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure
- Prepare and transmit aviation weather reports used by pilots, dispatchers, and other aviation professionals
Training Program All recent Surface Weather Observers complete a 6-week training program at the Dev Hotel and Conference Centre in Cornwall, Ontario.
