Hours: Up to 24 hours/week

Home Campus: Fennell (fully in office)

Rate of Pay: $20.56 per hour, plus 6% in lieu of vacation

Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Dean, Community, Wellness & Public Safety, the incumbent will provide and maintain a variety of programs, projects and services to augment the learning relative to the program of studies and developing graduate knowledge, skills and abilities. The incumbent may be called upon to help with corporate wellness programming duties and responsibilities for individual & group training with amateur athletes and the general public.

This includes assisting faculty and technologists under the direction of the Associate Dean in assessing such needs and liaising with the Mohawk College community in a match adding value for all partners. Congruous goals and strategies for planning and project management are continually developed and evaluated for each initiative for sustainability and quality. The position will work with faculty and other technologists in building and supervising scenario-based training and simulation exercises appropriate to learning outcomes of the programs under the Community, Wellness & Public Safety umbrella including facilities management of the offsite labs and facilities.

To augment the duties of faculty, revenue generation opportunities and living lab activities by assisting the faculty, other technologists, staff, and students to perform their responsibilities in project management that informs scheduling, setting up equipment, and helping with fitness centre(s) and classroom lab related activities.





The incumbent assists faculty with the Exercise/Fitness/Wellness related course physical assessments and practicing to professional levels required of the course outcomes.

What you’ll be doing:

- The incumbent assists faculty with the related course physical and wellness assessments, including First Aid/CPR requirements of the professions within the department. The incumbent reacts to changing circumstances regarding physical fitness/wellness protocol used by recruiting agencies and supports upgrades regarding certifications as required.
- Assists in the coordination of class material to Learning Plans, demonstrates class activities and techniques and provides to the faculty the results of student evaluation during fitness and wellness skill development in lab settings, including testing, of the Department of Community, Wellness & Public Safety students and Living Lab course requirements to successful completion. This also includes maintaining the cleaning requirements of all lab spaces.
- Fitness/wellness protocol will include but not limited to practice physical fitness testing and physical abilities requirement evaluation (PARE), First Aid/CPR, and primarily the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) related testing and assessments for fitness trainers and wellness experts and associated justice specific certifications.

Other duties as assigned. What you’ll bring to the role:

- A minimum of two (2) year post-secondary education in Health, Wellness and Fitness, Recreation and Leisure Studies, Sport Administration or Facility Management, Physical Education, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.




- A minimum of 12 months of experience in health promotion/workplace wellness working in an organizational setting conducting needs assessments and/or high-level fitness training and programming experience, developing, monitoring and evaluating Community, Wellness & Public Safety “Living Lab” projects with associated communication and planning necessary to execute sustainable, quality initiatives of value to all stakeholders – or equivalent.
- First Aid/ CPR certification.
- Certified Personal Trainer (CSEP-CPT).
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
