Tool and die apprentices must have a minimum of 2 years experience in the field.

Prerequisites:
Apprentice will work under leader with opportunities to advance. Person must own basic tools for the trade and have basic knowledge of die making, print reading, measuring and machine operation.
CTD is looking for apprentice tool and die makers to manufacture tooling for the metal stamping industry. A self-sufficient and motivated person willing to obtain a long term position is mandatory.
Maintain, improve, repair or modify tools, dies and fixtures as instructed, in a professional, cost-efficient manner.
Perform machining operations to a high degree of tolerance.
Must be an independent thinker, able to do most tasks independently
Accountabilities:
Plan and layout job assignments, determine sequence of machining operations.
Perform machine operations requiring unusual and difficult setups, and methods to maintain very close tolerances and fits, including heat treating, drawing, tempering and bench work involving filing, scraping, grinding, lapping, fitting, indexing, timing, assembly and adjusting to insure satisfactory operation.
Perform tooling troubleshooting duties as assigned.
Make tool tryouts, diagnose and correct problems, and make recommendations on tool modifications and methods required.
Work with Engineering Department and production employees to work out tooling and prototype refinements as necessary
Machine tools, jigs and fixtures to close tolerances. Verify dimensions of machine parts. Fabricate gauges, machined parts and dies. Machine, fit and assemble parts. Inspect and test final products. Set up machine tools. Read blueprint, schemas and drawings. Instruct apprentices.

Pay: $20.00-$26.00 per hour
