Where You Will Be Working

Nasittuq supports operations across the North Warning System (NWS), a network of remote sites located throughout Canada's Arctic. Working in the North offers a unique opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure while experiencing some of the country's most remote and remarkable landscapes. In keeping with our commitment to northern communities and Indigenous employment, priority consideration will be given to qualified Inuit beneficiaries, including those enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement, Inuvialuit Final Agreement, and Nunatsiavut Land Claims Agreement.

What You'll Do

- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide range of vehicles, heavy equipment, and mobile support equipment used to support North Warning System operations.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on trucks, loaders, graders, bulldozers, snowplows, snowblowers, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), boats, portable generators, compressors, and other support equipment.
- Conduct inspections, testing, and equipment assessments to ensure operational readiness, safety, and reliability.
- Identify equipment deficiencies and recommend repair, overhaul, replacement, and decommissioning actions.
- Maintain diesel-powered equipment and mechanical systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and maintenance schedules.
- Operate and support snow-clearing equipment and winter maintenance activities as required.
- Assist with aircraft loading and unloading activities and support site logistics operations.
- Support petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL) activities, including fuel sampling and fuel off-loading operations when required.
- Provide on-the-job training and technical guidance to site personnel on equipment operation, maintenance, and safe work practices.
- Complete maintenance records, work orders, inspection reports, and equipment documentation within the NWS maintenance management system.
- Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, operational,



and quality standards while working in remote Arctic environments.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned in support of site operations and mission readiness.

Who You Are: CREDENTIALS

- Provincial or Territorial Certificate of Qualification as a 310T Truck and Coach Technician, 310S Automotive Service Technician, Heavy Equipment Technician, Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, or equivalent recognized trade certification.
- Military QL5 qualification in Heavy Equipment, Heavy Duty Mechanics, Automotive Technician, or equivalent will be considered.
- Diesel endorsement is considered an asset.
- Valid Driver's Licence.

EXPERIENCE

- Minimum five years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing vehicles, heavy equipment, diesel-powered systems, or mobile support equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems.
- Experience working with construction equipment, fleet vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, off-road equipment, or industrial machinery.
- Experience working in remote, industrial, mining, utilities, construction, military, or northern environments is considered an asset.

SKILLS

- Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic troubleshooting abilities.
- Proficiency with vehicle diagnostic equipment, testing tools, and repair procedures.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, heavy equipment systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance programs.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing operational requirements.
- Professional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to travel to adjacent sites and support operations across multiple remote locations.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments and adverse weather conditions in remote Arctic locations.
- Please note that employment at North Warning System is conditional upon obtaining and maintaining an Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance or Secret Level Security Clearance.
