Connections welcomes community members who wish to enhance Branch services by filling volunteer roles such as Mentors, Drivers, Tutors, Knitters, and Special Event Volunteers.

Volunteer Opportunity Details Volunteer

Opportunity ID: 117 Description of Duties: To transport children to family visits, therapy or other appointments as requested by Case Manager in consultation with Coordinator of Volunteer Connections Verify directions and pick-up time with caregiver

Ensure safety measures are in place: car seats with tether hook, seatbelts, place child in rear seat etc.

Drive child to appointment, and home

Notify staff of significant events or concerns

Record mileage and parking costs and submit monthly expense forms

Observe volunteer policies and procedures as stated in manual Skills Required Competent, safe adult driver

Current drivers' license and vehicle insurance





Reliable vehicle and willingness to drive in rural areas

Ability to relate to children in a warm, caring and empathetic manner

Ability to manage child behaviour if necessary

Well-organized, dependable volunteer

Good communication skills and mature problem-solving ability

Cell phone recommended but not required

Six-month minimum commitment Skills Gained/Related Careers Orientation to position, client family need and WCFS

In-service training available Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+ Time Commitment: Daytime , Evening , Weekend Generally one visit weekly (2-4 hours) for six month renewable term
