Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Building Supply Yard Foreman to oversee the daily operations of our building materials yard. The successful candidate will lead the yard team, ensure efficient loading and unloading of materials, maintain inventory accuracy, and promote a safe and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of yard personnel.
- Assist Branch Manager with shipping and ordering stock material.
- Schedule workloads and assign tasks to maximize productivity.
- Ensure accurate loading and unloading of customer orders and supplier deliveries.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment including winter snow removal.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with cycle counts and stock organization.
- Operate and oversee the safe operation of forklifts and other yard equipment.
- Train, mentor,
and evaluate yard employees.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and health and safety regulations.
- Work closely with the sales, purchasing, and delivery teams to meet customer needs.
- Resolve operational issues quickly and professionally.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in the building supply, lumber, or construction materials industry.
- Supervisory or leadership experience required.
- Strong knowledge of building materials and yard operations.
- Valid forklift certification required.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and customer service.
Pay: $30.90-$31.90 per hour
