Since 2012, Northstar has expanded from its original location in Southern Ontario, and now operates from 5 branches across Ontario, Manitoba, British Columbia and Alberta, employing more than 400 experienced professionals.

Who are we looking for: Our Northstar Access yard in Calgary, AB is where we house and store our gear and equipment. Our yard workers play a very key role in facilitating the movement of our scaffolding gear to our customers who rent the material or have us build it for their project. As we grow continue to grow in Alberta, we are expanding our team through an opening for a Yard Shipper/Receiver.

Ideal candidates will have strong, self-directed work ethic and work well with others. You must be able to work in various environmental conditions as this position works primarily outdoors. There is also heavy lifting involved due to the nature of our products.

Ultimately, we are looking for reliable and motivated people who don’t shy away from hard work. All applications are assessed by our HR team. We do not utilize artificial intelligence or automated filtering systems at any stage of our recruitment process.

Responsibilities: Loading/unloading delivery vehicles in a safe manner with frequent lifting up to 50lbs

Order picking, ensuring accuracy

Counting, stacking, and organizing scaffold gear

Safety checks of gear and equipment

Keeping yard clean and organized

May operate company vehicle to deliver gear to customer or project sites





Understand and adhere to the company’s safe work practices and regulations Required Qualifications: Class 5 Driver’s license

Be willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Previous work experience in an Order Picker or Material Handler role preferred

Scaffold knowledge and forklift license not necessary but an asset

Strength and ability to lift items up to 50 lbs

Punctual and consistent with reliable means of travel to/from work

Be a quick learner and take direction from others

Be a Team Player; work well with others and train new members as required

Good communication skills

Good organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills

WHIMIS and CSTS training considered an asset In addition to the base salary, the role is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, which includes paid vacation days, paid sick days, paid flexible diversity day, comprehensive health, dental and vision plan, retirement plan with company contribution, professional development support, company incentives such as a referral program, and team-building and social events. The stated range, which may vary depending on primary work location, represents the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to offer newly hired employees for this position. We recognize that exceptional talent doesn’t always fit neatly into a bracket.
