About This Opportunity York Region Educational Services (YRES) is dedicated to leading community volunteerism as a proud recipient of Canada's Volunteer Award, through providing a wide range of volunteer positions in communities in the Greater Vancouver Area, Greater Toronto Area, Ottawa, and Alberta. We are looking for a YRES Event Assistant - someone devoted to giving back to their community, making an impact, and who loves socializing.
Volunteers will help create a welcoming and organized experience for guests, presenters, sponsors, and award recipients throughout the event.
The YRES Event Assistant Is Responsible For
- Arriving independently to the event on time and in professional attire
- Assisting with event set-up and clean-up
- Helping decorate and prepare the venue
- Confidently greeting and directing guests upon arrival
- Assisting guests with seating and audience flow
- Supporting backstage operations and presenter coordination
- Helping distribute refreshments and snacks during intermission
- Assisting with photobooth set-up and group photos
- Supporting award ceremony logistics and transitions
- Providing feedback on the event

Who We're Looking For
- Minimum age: 12
- Able to independently arrive to work on time
- Passionate about volunteering and excited to learn
- Can commit to scheduled time of the shift
- Fluency in English
- Highly organized, detail-orientated and capable of managing multiple tasks
