Reports ToProject ManagerLOCATIONBirminghamPosition SummaryWork consists of supervising and coordinating the installation, alteration, addition, and repair of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment within the construction industry. The Electrical Superintendent oversees field personnel, ensures work is completed according to project specifications and safety standards, and coordinates jobsite activities to meet project schedules and quality expectations.Duties/ResponsibilitiesSupervise and coordinate the daily activities of electricians, apprentices, and field personnelPlan and organize electrical work in accordance with project drawings and specificationsOversee installation of feeders, conduit systems, switchgear, devices, motors, and control systemsReview layout and preparation for electrical installations including underground rough-inEnsure electrical installations comply with NFPA 70 National Electrical Code and project requirementsCoordinate manpower, materials, tools, and equipment needed for project completionMonitor job progress to ensure work is completed on schedule and within scopeIdentify and resolve field issues, installation conflicts, and technical problemsCoordinate work with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, and other tradesConduct jobsite safety meetings and ensure compliance with company and OSHA safety policiesInspect completed work to verify quality and compliance with plans and specificationsMentor and train electricians and apprentices in proper installation practices and safety proceduresMaintain accurate jobsite documentation including reports, schedules, and crew assignmentsPossess the skills and knowledge of lower job titles including Foreman and ElectricianDemonstrate strong leadership, problem solving, and decision-making skillsPerform all duties and responsibilities in a professional and timely mannerWorking ConditionsJob requires working in all elements,



depending on job location and time of year (heat, humidity, cold, rain and snow)Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns)Work from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks, or other elevated work areas as neededPerform work at various heights (up to 100') when required to oversee field operationsWork in restricted areas (switchgear rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attics)Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, face mask/shield and gloves – at all times), respirator when requiredAble to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime as required, including night shifts and weekends if neededEducational/Personal RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED requiredCurrent valid driver's licenseExtensive experience in commercial or industrial electrical constructionCompletion of a formal apprenticeship and valid electrician's license or equivalent work experience requiredStrong leadership and supervisory skillsAttention to detailStrong code of ethicsService oriented with good communication and people skillsThorough understanding of electrical theory and NFPA 70 National Electrical CodePhysical RequirementsMust be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overheadMust be able to lift up to 51 pounds at a time, with heavier requirements met with assistance from lifting aids or co-workersMust be able to climb ladders and access all levels of construction sitesMust be capable of walking job sites for extended periods while supervising field workMust possess positive vision (normal or corrected) and must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiringMust be able to access construction areas using OSHA-approved ladders or stairs under construction but acceptable for useResponsible for ensuring tools, materials, and equipment are properly used and maintained by field crewsEnsure proper housekeeping practices are maintained on job sites #J-18808-Ljbffr
