Qualifications

- Certification with the CAMRT.
- Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography.
- One year of recent related experience, including supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course when required by site practice.
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification – Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.
- Knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and other national professional associations.
- Evidence‑based practice knowledge related to CT.
- Current CT theory and practices within a client/family centered model of care.
- Proficiency with PACS and Radiology Information Systems.
- Strong communication skills with clients, families, colleagues, and physicians.
- Conflict resolution and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize workload.
- Skill in CT techniques, equipment operation, and supplies.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

- Perform examinations in CT in accordance with established procedures and departmental policy.
- Receive and complete requisitions, enter relevant data into the radiology information system(s), and prepare patients for procedures.
- Position patients and explain clinical procedures, including venipuncture for contrast media injections as directed.
- Operate computerized imaging equipment, label permanent records, and check technical results to ensure departmental standards are followed.




- Ensure images collate with requisitions and request previous studies.
- Monitor patients during procedures, observing for contrast media reactions or other emergent situations, and perform CPR if required.
- Facilitate workflow by checking requisition information and arranging for department or facility porters.
- Perform quality control duties, including scheduling and performing equipment tests per Diagnostic Accreditation Program requirements.
- Maintain the designated work area by cleaning equipment, setting up examination trays, stocking supplies, and notifying the supervisor for replenishment.
- Demonstrate procedures and equipment usage to staff, residents, technologists, and students; participate in orientation and supervision.
- Respond to inquiries from other clinical areas and refer matters to the appropriate supervisor.
- Ensure Health and Safety rules and regulations (Fire, Disaster, WHMIS, Smart Moves, Infection Control) are met.
- Participate in program enhancements, quality improvement, protocol development, and hospital committees where Medical Imaging is represented.
- Participate in approved research and special projects with the supervisor and other health professionals.
- Maintain equipment by monitoring operation and reporting issues; arrange maintenance and repairs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
