Our client is a well-established distribution organization in Oakville looking for a hands-on, transactional Accountant to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, maintaining accurate financial records, and managing the day-to-day accounting activities that keep the business running smoothly.

The Opportunity

This is a highly transactional accounting position with responsibility across reconciliations, payments, inventory, payroll support, banking, and general accounting.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working through a high volume of day-to-day accounting tasks.

Key Responsibilities

- Complete monthly reconciliations for bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved
- Record and maintain day-to-day accounting entries, including journal entries and cheque activity
- Monitor daily banking activity across Canadian and U.S. accounts
- Manage payment processing for equipment, parts, and other supplier obligations
- Maintain accurate inventory records and investigate variances, outdated items, and costing discrepancies
- Review inventory costing and ensure item information is kept current




- Maintain payroll-related records and perform regular checks for accuracy
- Assist with the preparation and submission of GST/HST and CARM-related filings
- Review employee expense claims for accuracy, including applicable taxes
- Maintain invoicing and records related to specific inventory items
- Complete required documentation and registrations related to equipment sales and ownership
- Support the accounting team through year-end activities and the preparation of information required for external audits
- Provide coverage for AP and AR functions when required, including deposits, account balances, and related banking information
- Assist with various accounting-related tasks and projects as they arise

What We're Looking For

- A steady accountant with 5+ years of accounting experience
- Solid understanding of reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end processes
- Experience working with inventory and/or cost accounting is an asset
- Payroll and GST/HST experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Sage300 experience is an asset
- Willingness to work 100% on-site in Oakville
