Working in accordance with the Accuracy Control Plan, you will help identify and mitigate dimensional risks, drive continuous improvement, and ensure first-time-right results, contributing to the delivery of high-quality products that meet customer requirements and shipbuilding standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide in-field dimensional control support and technical guidance during unit, block, and mega block assembly activities to ensure compliance with design requirements and minimize downstream rework.
- Analyze Accuracy Control data and measurement results to assess dimensional performance, identify trends, evaluate process capability, and produce reports that support production decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support complex and special installations by performing measurement verification, providing technical recommendations, and ensuring Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) tolerances are achieved on the first attempt.
- Utilize metrology equipment, including Total Stations, Laser Scanners, and Laser Trackers, to perform precision measurement, alignment, and verification activities throughout the shipbuilding process.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to identify dimensional risks, troubleshoot accuracy-related issues,
and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule, quality, and customer requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and 3D models to validate dimensional compliance and support efficient construction and assembly activities.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Geomatics, Engineering, or a related field; or
- Red Seal Trade certification with 3+ years of shipbuilding experience; or
- 2+ years of experience as a Dimensional Control Surveyor in an industrial environment.
- Proficiency with metrology equipment, including Total Stations, Laser Scanners, and Laser Trackers. Experience using SpatialAnalyzer for data processing, analysis, and reporting.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, 3D models, and dimensional data.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement.
