Working under the general supervision and guidance of the Area and Care Manager, the Administrative Support V is an advanced position that supports public health program operations for the Well Child and School Public Health Programs at Shaganappi Community Health Centre. Working with minimal supervision, the Administrative Support V uses advanced administrative and leadership skills gained through education and experience to perform a range of specialized activities. They provide leadership to other administrative staff both within and outside of the department, acts as a resource, assigns work, maintains workflow and uses discretion to respond to and resolve escalated issues or complex problems where there may not be established processes or guidelines. This position is also responsible for ensuring adherence to quality assurance standards and collaborating in the development and implementation of changes to departmental processes. The Administrative Support V uses their understanding of clinical and non-clinical business process and best practice to ensure standards are met for safe and effective service delivery. In many instances, the Administrative Support V will be the point of contact, dealing with key stakeholders from other sites and public health programs across the zone. This position works independently in a complex environment and performs multiple tasks involving frequently shifting priorities and deadlines.

Required Qualifications: Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. certificate in office or business administration).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the last 5 years in a healthcare setting is required. Strong organizational skills, high level of accuracy and attention to detail required. Advanced communication skills required. (E.g. strong listening and non-verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues of varying ages, socioeconomic status and ethnic backgrounds; conflict resolution skills, etc.). Advanced computer skills required (e.g. proficiency in MS Office Products, clinical information systems, SharePoint, keyboarding skills of minimum 50 words per minute, etc.).
Experience facilitating staff learning required. Ability to lift/carry 25 lbs. required. Ability to tolerate extended periods of standing, sitting, repetitive motion and computer work required. Proficient knowledge of e-People, ESP and timekeeping/payroll.
Preferred Qualifications:
Greater than 3 years’ experience in Public Health preferred. Experience in a formal leadership role in the last 5 years required (e.g. admin. Leadership, Admin Support V or supervisory role). Advanced education from a recognized institution preferred (ex. Bachelor’s degree). Experience with vaccine ordering preferred.
