Job Summary
We are currently looking for a Journeyman Electrician to join our fast‑paced service & small projects team for Winnipeg and the surrounding area. The role will be responsible for completing daily service calls/small projects, control/BAS wiring, fire alarm systems, refrigeration electrical, EV charging installations and commercial TI's. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a professional work ethic, above‑average computer skills with Windows‑based programs, troubleshooting/analytical experience, and the ability to interact with customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform new installations and repair work on electrical equipment and wiring.
- Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for current and existing installations.
- Cut, bend, thread and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings.
- Pull wire through conduits, walls and ceiling spaces.
- Splice, join and connect wire to components to form complete control systems.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, repair, recondition and re‑install electrical equipment including HVAC, refrigeration systems and various BAS applications.
- Work with electrical and electronic testing equipment.
- Report on and recommend improvements to electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Develop and manage work orders, logs,
and other documentation accurately and on time.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform tasks with minimal supervision and in accordance with Ainsworth Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations.
- Some after hours and weekend work will be required.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician with 5+ years of commercial experience.
- Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology and the Canadian Electrical Code.
- Experience with fire alarms is an asset.
- Ability to read and draw simple electrical sketches and schematics.
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and oral.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to execute precision work.
- Strong work ethic and communication skills.
- Commercial/construction installation experience.
- Must be able to obtain and pass security clearances once hired.
- Class 5 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
