Job Summary

The salary range is CAD $41.42 to $55.91 per hour. Hours, start/stop times, days off and work site may be subject to change in accordance with operations requirements and applicable provisions of the Collective Agreement and statutes. Testing may be required. A criminal record check may be required.

St. Paul's Hospital is accepting applications for the Critical Care Educational Program. This is an prospect for Registered Nurses to pursue a specialty Certificate through the BCIT Critical Care Program. Providence Health Care provides 100% funding for tuition, books, and wages. Upon successful completion of the program you will work in the Cath Lab at St. Paul’s Hospital.

Reporting

Reporting to the Operations Leader, the Registered Nurse works within an interdisciplinary clinical framework in accordance with the BCCNM Standards of Practice and consistent with the mission, vision, values and established protocols of Providence Health Care.

Responsibilities

- Assesses, identifies, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care required to assist patients in meeting their physical, social, spiritual and psychological needs using an established framework for nursing practice.
- Develops, implements, evaluates and revises the plan of care.
- Incorporates individual and/or group teaching into the care plan and nursing interventions, and/or makes referrals to other identified resources.
- Supports other nurses and health care professionals by collegially sharing information and demonstrating procedures.

Education and Experience

- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).




- Minimum of 1-2 years medical/surgical experience (2 years preferred); not received Post-Basic Education Funding from PHC for past 2 years.
- Post‑Basic Education may be funded by PHC (100% tuition and books, wages at 100% of posted FTE), but applicant must complete it prior to working in the Department.

BCIT Critical Care Program Details

Pre‑requisite by distance (NSCC 7120, 7150, 7220 – 24 weeks) Jan 4 – June 20, 2027; Pre‑Requisite Release Days (2 days paid) April 2 & April 28, 2027; CTF June 28 – Sept 17, 2027. Dates are approximate, set by BCIT. Number of seats filled is undetermined.
