Calgary
- Apply applicable electrical codes, regulations, industry standards, and company procedures in all design activities.
- Perform electrical engineering calculations, analyses, and prepare engineering design deliverables.
- Participate in engineering work planning, scheduling, and estimating activities to support project execution.
- Identify and resolve technical electrical design issues while effectively communicating with clients, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Support procurement activities by preparing material requisitions, reviewing vendor quotations, participating in bid evaluations, and assisting with equipment selection.
- Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout all project phases.
- Perform power system studies using ETAP or SKM software.
- Develop protective relay calculations and coordinate relay settings.
- Complete electrical engineering calculations, including demand load analysis, equipment sizing, voltage drop, motor starting studies, neutral grounding resistor (NGR) sizing, and power factor correction.
- Electrical equipment layouts
- Medium- and low-voltage motor control schematics
- Cable tray layouts and schedules
- Prepare Area Classification Drawings in accordance with applicable industry standards.
- Interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs;) and mechanical equipment load lists to develop electrical design packages.
- Produce all electrical engineering deliverables associated with Electric Heat Tracing systems.
- Review vendor drawings and technical documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Prepare Material Take-Off (MTO) estimates to support procurement and project execution.
- Report project progress and technical issues to the Electrical Lead or Overall Project Lead.

Qualifications
- Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology from a recognized two-year post-secondary program, or completion of a related three- to four-year apprenticeship program.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Electrical Designer within the oil and gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, equipment modelling, and industry-standard electrical design software.
- Experience developing electrical design packages for industrial or oil and gas facilities.
- Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and engineering best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make routine technical decisions within established project requirements.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary project setting.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required to support engineering, construction, and commissioning activities.
