This will involve:A5 km-long tunnel, built by a pressurized TBM (10.5 m diameter slurry TBM); Two vertical shafts (onshore and offshore); An offshore modular intake structure, resting on the lake bed.The project is distinguished by its proximity to an active nuclear site, requiring rigorous standards of safety, planning and coordination.What you will do:The Health & Safety Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership of the project's Health & Safety program by developing, implementing and managing frameworks, policies and on-site audits. They will lead prevention initiatives to reduce incidents and risks while leading incident management activities and promoting a positive safety culture throughout the project.Concretely, your tasks will be:Lead Health & Safety across all stages of the project, ensuring safety remains a fundamental project priorityDevelop, implement, and enhance Health & Safety management frameworks, policies, procedures, programs and compliance initiatives to prevent workplace injuriesProvide recommendations to senior leaders on the effective implementation and management of Health & Safety throughout all aspects of the project with supporting statistics and performancePromote the integration of Safety in Design (SiD) principles by collaborating with Design, Engineering and Construction teams to eliminate or reduce risks at source during planning and design phasesEvaluate and oversee subcontractor Health & Safety assurance processes, including prequalification, onboarding, performance monitoring, audits and leadership engagementProactively identify and anticipate workplace hazards through regular inspections, risk assessments, and worker participation to eliminate or control risks before incidents occurLead the definition and implementation of audit standards, ensuring they are respected throughout the Health & Safety teamTrack and evaluate Health & Safety performance through on-site audits, inspections, key performance indicators, trend analysis, and assurance programs to drive continuous improvementConduct and create training,
orientation and communication for management and staff using internal and external resources on Health & SafetyCollaborate with cross-functionally with teams across the project to identify and address safety-related risks, constructability concerns, and operational hazards before work is executedDevelop and maintain effective relationships with regulatory authorities, OPG representatives, industry associations, unions and external stakeholdersOversee emergency preparedness, response and crisis management and organise regular emergency drills to maintain a quick and efficient emergency response.Direct incident management activities, including investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, lessons learned, and ongoing performance improvementPromote and strengthen a positive safety culture through visible leadership, workforce engagement, coaching, mentorship, accountability, inclusivity, and psychological safety initiatives.Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and standardsCommunicate and report all field incidents in daily meetings; Ensure effective worker involvement to support a strong safety cultureImprove the level of excellence in the company's Health & Safety programs and performance.Demonstrate commitment to VINCI values of respect, transparency, trust, accountability, dialogue and continuous improvementMinimum of 20 years experience in the construction industry in a leadership role, preferably on large infrastructure projectsStrong knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety RegulationsCOR Auditor certifiedRecognized professional EHS qualification, such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Certification or equivalentProven experience in tunneling or underground works, preferably with TBM operationsFamiliarity with safety management systems and incident reporting toolsExperience working on projects with high-risk environments (nuclear, offshore, or similar)Ability to balance operational excellence, production requirements and safety objectives without compromiseHeightened leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate and direct personnelExcellent verbal and written communication skillsHigh attention to detail and proactive approach to problem-solvingStrong cross-functional skills, working with the client, regulators, unions, subcontractors,

The headquarter of VINCI Construction Grands Projets Canada is based in Montréal, Québec. We are currently involved in three major construction projects in Ontario valued at several billion Canadian dollars.The construction of the subway line south in Toronto, involving a six-kilometer tunnel and associated excavation work. The project includes the design, construction, and handover of all tunnels (twin tubes of 6 km each), 7 stations (turnkey for: 1 at-grade station and 6 underground stations) and civil engineering works.Extension of the Confederation Line in Ottawa, one of the components of Phase 2 of the city's O-Train system, which includes the design, construction, and financing of 27.5 km of light rail infrastructure. The work also includes 4 kilometers of cut-and-cover tunnels, 20 engineering structures, 16 stations and a light maintenance facility.The Pickering Nuclear Generating Station refurbishment program includes the design and construction of a new deep water intake in Lake Ontario to improve the plant's cooling system.
