About the Role

As a Barista/Cashier at Picnic, you will play a key role in creating a warm and memorable cafe experience for our guests. You will provide excellent hospitality while preparing quality beverages, supporting daily cafe operations and ensuring each guest receives friendly, efficient, and attentive service. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, adaptable and thrives in a fast-paced environment while taking pride in delivering consistently excellent food and beverage experiences.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare high-quality espresso-based beverages while maintaining consistency, presentation, and attention to detail
- Operate a 2-group espresso machine efficiently while managing beverage volume during busy service periods
- Dial in the espresso grinder at the beginning of each shift and make adjustments throughout service to maintain quality standards
- Ensure the cafe is fully prepared for service, including food and beverage setup, station organization, and restocking
- Welcome guests at the Cafe/Take-Away counter, provide friendly service, and create a positive first impression




- Take guest orders accurately using the Clover POS terminal and process payments efficiently
- Communicate beverage orders clearly to the Barista team and ensure drinks are completed accurately and on time
- Retrieve and package grab-and-go food items while maintaining an organized and appealing pastry case display
- Call out completed orders clearly and professionally for guests
- Support guest flow by directing walk-in guests to the cafe experience when dining room wait times are longer
- Deliver drinks to table-service guests and support the front-of-house team when needed
- Assist with Food Runner responsibilities, including delivering items to tables, maintaining table support and helping the service team during peak periods

Qualifications

- Smart Serve certification required
- Food Handler Certificate, an asset
- Solid communication and multitasking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stay organized under pressure
- Availability to work flexible shifts including weekdays, weekends and holidays
