The Backyard Club is looking for a friendly, reliable, and detail-oriented Barista to join The Patio, our in-house coffee and smoothie bar. This role is focused purely on café service: preparing drinks, serving grab-and-go items, maintaining cleanliness, and creating a warm, polished experience for members and guests.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and serve espresso drinks, brewed coffee, teas, smoothies, and other café beverages
- Follow recipes, portion standards, and presentation standards consistently
- Operate café equipment including espresso machine, grinders, blender, brewer, fridge/freezer, and POS
- Serve pastries, snacks, grab-and-go food, and retail beverage items
- Handle transactions accurately through the café POS system
- Restock cups, lids, napkins, milk, syrups, fruit, pastries, and other supplies
- Keep the café counter, equipment, fridges, display areas, and storage areas clean and organized
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards at all times
- Monitor product freshness and report low stock, waste, or quality issues
- Provide friendly and efficient service during busy periods
- Help open and close the café area according to checklist




- Maintain a clean, welcoming, and professional café environment

Qualifications
- Previous barista, café, smoothie bar, or food service experience preferred
- Comfortable making espresso-based drinks and blended beverages
- Friendly, reliable, punctual, and customer-service oriented
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced workplace
- Strong attention to cleanliness, detail, and consistency
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift light supplies as needed
- Food Handler Certificate is an asset
- Availability for mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays is an asset
