DescriptionOur electric power generation clients, both in Canada and US, are updating and replacing the power plant control systems with new digital control systems. This is expanding work in the Instrumentation and Controls Engineering group.This is a senior level design engineering position that offers a variety of interesting and challenging opportunities in nuclear Instrument and Controls Engineering and will provide an excellent opportunity to advance your career. You will lead a team of nuclear I&C Engineers and interface with the discipline engineers and designers on the Project Team and with the client to ensure all client requirements are satisfied.You will work on major process controls engineering projects for upgrades and modifications to nuclear power plants in the following areas:Digital Systems – PLC, DCS, Touchscreen displays, network switches and control systemsFunctional Requirement and Procurement Specifications and software categorization reports for instrumentation and control systems for nuclear power plantsProcess instrumentation replacement evaluation reports and nuclear modification packagesPrepare instrument data sheets (IDS) and instrument calibration sheets (IDS)Prepare documentation for design input for drawing production including cable block diagrams, connection wiring diagrams and schematicsInterface with vendors and prepare equipment purchase specificationsPrepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner to meet client requirementsAttend client meetings and perform site walkdowns to ensure the client is satisfied with our work productProvide guidance as a mentor in the development of less experienced nuclear instrumentation and controls design engineersThis position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in‐office work 3 days per week,
giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.QualificationsWe do not sponsor employees for work authorization in Canada for this position.This position may require access to U.S. export‐controlled information. Please click here to determine your eligibility.Essential skills and experience:A BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board‐accredited undergraduate program or a U.S. based ABET‐accredited programA minimum of 7 years of experience in design engineering for process control systems; experience in design engineering for nuclear power plant control system is preferredExperience with power plant instrumentation and controls systems design for Candu reactors, including DCS for turbine, control, feedwater control, and data displayTechnically knowledgeable of available equipment and proven pre‐engineered systems to execute systems designExperience in reviewing design drawings created by othersValued, but Not Required:P.Eng licenseActive Ontario Power Generation (OPG) security clearanceSargent and Lundy is fully committed to abiding by all equal chance employment standards.
