Options Community Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering social services across the Southern Fraser region (Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley) from early childhood to seniors. Our comprehensive range of programs and services relies on collaborative relationships with individuals, businesses, community groups and government bodies to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the community.

Position Overview

Are you a friendly, organized, and customer-focused individual who thrives in a fast-paced setting? Ted Kuhn Towers is looking for a Building Concierge Worker (BCW) to be the first point of contact for our residents and guests. As the face of our community, you’ll ensure smooth operations, provide exceptional service, and contribute to a welcoming and secure environment. If you’re passionate about creating great experiences and making a positive impact, we want to hear from you! Reporting to the Program Manager, our selected candidate will be providing a compassionate, strengths-based approach to monitoring building security, including overseeing the front entrance, security cameras, and common areas.

Responsibilities will include patrolling the building and perimeter with a partner, reporting irregularities, assisting emergency responders, and performing administrative tasks such as report writing, answering calls, and maintaining daily logs of interactions with residents, contractors, and first responders.

The BCW will also be in charge of posting notices, keeping updated on community services, and providing comprehensive reports on shift activities and incidents.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Building Concierge Worker position will have a secondary school diploma and at least one year of experience in a social service setting, or a combination of relevant education, training, and experience. Experience working with marginalized populations, including those facing mental illness, addiction, or homelessness, is preferred. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are essential, along with WHMIS and First Aid certifications. The role requires a friendly, approachable demeanor, problem-solving skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently, and a strong understanding of oppression and marginalization. Additionally, the BCW must be able to identify emergencies and respond appropriately.

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.

- An eligibility list may be maintained for up to six months. Eligible applicants may be offered a casual position.
