Reporting to the Acting Manager, Security Strategy, the primary accountability of this position is to provide a diverse range of strategy, analytical, coordination and communications support.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and preparing key reports and presentation material for senior leadership forums and engagements. The candidate will also be responsible for research and monitoring of external trends, such as geopolitical shifts, regulatory developments, and the evolving threat landscape, and translating those insights into meaningful direction for Sun Life’s Security strategy.
What the successful candidate needs to succeed?
- University degree/college diploma in Business Administration, Communications, IT or related discipline(s) or equivalent co-op work experience.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in technology and/or business writing.
- Excellent MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills, including an understanding of presentation process (storyboard to finished product and speaker notes).
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral. Writing skills include an ability to translate technical content into laymen terms consumable by senior executive readers.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors and inaccuracies in reporting.
- Pragmatic understanding of storytelling and the ability to craft summaries and narratives relating to accomplishments, business rationale and projects. This includes creative design and utilizing visuals and graphics to aid in the communication of key information.
- Robust research skills and ability to fact-check and verify sources.
- Ability to independently drive initiatives forward with minimal oversight, effectively managing competing priorities and delivering results in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a global team environment with delivery and program teams, technical managers, and other business stakeholders.
Not necessary, but considered an asset:
- Experience with executive/senior management communications, e.g., workshops, reporting to executives, or communications to a broad external audience.
What will the successful candidate do? The Strategy Specialist’s main accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support the build and expansion of cyber security narratives and updates through executive-level communications, reporting and presentation material.
- Coordinate and prepare material for key security forums, including Security Council, Business Unit Risk Committees and other relevant forums (CISO Forum, Townhalls).
- Gathering and compiling key reports and presentation material for re-occurring meetings, forums, ad-hoc business narratives, and Client/external speaking engagements.
- Researching key security trends and emerging technologies/risks and translating into business insights.
- Assist in the development of the global security strategy focused on a three-year view of emerging technology while aligning with the security program and initiatives.
- Assist in the development of micro-strategies and business cases for future strategic investments and return on investments (ROI).
