Business Intelligence & Data Specialist

Location: Toronto, ON

Work Arrangement: onsite or hybrid (depending on profile)

Compensation: $80,000 to $90,000 + discretionary bonus

Level: Mid-Level | 4+ years of experience

About the Opportunity: Our client is a growing, multi-entity organization investing heavily in data and reporting capabilities. This is a hands-on opportunity for a BI professional who wants meaningful ownership of Power BI, data modeling, and reporting.

The role will work closely with Finance, Operations, and IT to turn business requirements into reliable reporting solutions. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable working independently in a fast-moving workplace.

What You'll Do

- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models used across the organization.
- Build advanced DAX measures and use Power Query to transform and clean source data.
- Write and troubleshoot SQL/T-SQL , including complex queries, views, CTEs, and stored procedures.
- Connect and integrate data from multiple business systems and sources.
- Maintain data models, relationships, and reporting structures to support scalable analytics.
- Investigate reporting discrepancies and trace issues back to the underlying source.




- Build validation and reconciliation processes to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Support Power BI refreshes, workspaces, security, and other reporting administration as needed.
- Partner with Finance, Operations, and IT to translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
- Manage competing priorities and communicate progress, issues, and blockers proactively.

What We're Looking For

- 4+ years of hands-on Power BI development in a production environment.
- Experience owning the data model , not just building visualizations.
- Understanding of dimensional modeling and data architecture .
- Strong DAX and Power Query capabilities.
- Solid SQL Server/T-SQL experience.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot data issues and validate reporting accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and a natural curiosity around data.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Comfortable working independently and adapting to changing priorities.

- Power BI workspace/security administration
- Experience in a multi-entity or complex operating environment
