The Program Taproot Community Support Services (formerly WJS Canada) works to improve the lives of persons in their communities through a variety of programs and services.

Taproot Community Support Services supports persons with diverse abilities to learn new skills, achieve goals, increase independence and participate in their community.

The Position EARN EXTRA MONEY IN YOUR SPARE TIME! ..... Work as much or as little as you desire.

Taproot Community Support Services, is building our 24/7 CASUAL FLOAT POOL to work a variety of shifts as a Community Disability Service Worker, covering staff illness, leaves, vacation etc.

- AVAILABILITY to work: day, night (sleep) or Night (awake) shifts

LOCATION: Group homes or private residences in Westlock/Barrhead, Alberta WHEN DO I WORK? Set your availability and claim any available open shifts.

HOW MUCH WILL I MAKE? $18.80+/hr plus pay in lieu of benefits

WHEN CAN I START? Complete the signup process, provide required security clearances and start as soon as possible!

In Your Role You Will

- Guide and support persons with developmental disabilities, autism, mental health issues &/or FASD in a group home or private home setting
- Model socially appropriate behaviors (for the individual and the community).
- Administer medical administration or first aid, according to prescribed procedures.




- Receive training for: Non-violent Crisis Intervention, First Aid, Suicide Prevention, etc.
- Prior to confirmation of employment all applicants must provide a current (dated within 6 months of hiring date) Criminal Record Check and Ministry Check. These checks can take up to 6 weeks to obtain, please ensure you prepare accordingly.

As An Ideal Candidate You Possess

- High School Diploma
- Related experience - educational assistant, healthcare aide, social services worker, youth worker
- A Driver’s License
- Explicit criminal record and social services intervention check
