Wise Publishing

Toronto

Salary Range: $64,000-80,000/year

About Wise Publishing:

Wise Publishing, Inc. is a digital publisher and technology company — and a group of talented, passionate people who believe consumers deserve the best possible information to make smart choices and get ahead.

Our purpose is to empower everyone to live a richer life.

Our core products are Moneywise.com and Money.ca, high-quality personal finance brands serving the U.S. and Canada respectively and reaching tens of millions of people each month.

About the Position:

Hey there! Moneywise.com and Money.ca are growing, and we’re looking for a collaborative, proactive Contributing Editor to help shape our content.

This is a hybrid writer-editor role on a dual track: roughly half your time is spent reporting, drafting and filing original articles for Moneywise.com’s U.S. audience; the other half is spent editing, fact-checking, optimizing and syndicating the work of other writers and freelancers.

You’ll thrive here if you have greater-than-general knowledge of business or finance — personal finance, investing, P&C; insurance, taxes, estate planning, real estate, mortgages, banking, retirement planning or retail trends. If you want to contribute your expertise, build content and support a team, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities (What You’ll Do):

- Pitch, report and write original news and feature articles for Moneywise, sourced from primary materials: filings, court documents, interviews and data
- Write with a clear point of view in Moneywise’s voice — specific people, specific dollar amounts, sharp framing — not generic informational filler
- Edit and fact-check the work of staff writers and freelancers for accuracy, structure, clarity and AP style, across varied publication timelines

- Uphold our editorial standards and style guide so tone and voice stay consistent across the site
- Optimize content for monetization through responsible affiliate marketing
- Own syndication end to end — suggest what fits each partner, meet their formatting requirements and file independently
- Track how published and syndicated articles perform, and use that data to sharpen both your own work and our editorial process
- Give writers clear, direct and constructive feedback, and contribute to editorial meetings and the pitch approval process
- Manage overlapping deadlines across your writing and editing workstreams

Qualifications (Who You Are):

- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Finance, or a related field
- Proven experience in editing and content creation in a B2B or B2C setting, preferably in an area of finance (insurance, investing, loans, mortgages, personal finance, etc.)

Job Specifications Location: Canada-based; hybrid, with 1–2 days a week in our midtown Toronto office

- Working hours: Standard business hours with some flexibility required, as needed
- Travel and physical demands: Minimal — primarily a desk-based role
- Equipment / tools used: CMS platform, online research tools, Google Workspace

More Perks and Reasons to Join:

- We’re proud to be recognized as a Great Place to Work® 2023
- A beautiful midtown Toronto office for when you want to collaborate in person, plus a flexible schedule — most of our Ontario-based team is in 1 to 2 days a week
- Top-tier benefits include comprehensive dental/medical/vision as well as Health Spending Account (HSA), telemedical and wellness program
- Quarterly company-wide team outings and events
- Free in-office snacks, espresso, and an outdoor patio
- A supportive learning setting

We thank all applicants for their interest, however, due to the volume of applications, only candidates selected for interview will be contacted.
