We are also looking for someone who can look beyond the immediate task — identify opportunities to improve systems, streamline processes and contribute ideas that help the studio operate and grow more effectively.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Support registrations, trials, auditions, scheduling and student administration
Coordinate administrative aspects of the competitive program, including competitions, conventions, registrations and deadlines
Coordinate the planning and logistics of the annual recital, performances and other studio events
Coordinate information and communication with teachers, parents and external organizations
Assist with costumes, measurements, ordering and distribution
Maintain schedules, spreadsheets, records and internal systems
Research vendors, services and other operational needs, compare options and provide recommendations
Identify opportunities to improve, simplify and modernize studio processes
Support additional administrative and operational projects as needed
Qualifications & Experience
Strong knowledge and understanding of the dance industry, including dance styles and levels, recreational and competitive programs, rehearsals, competitions, conventions and performances
Previous dance training and studio experience strongly preferred; teaching and/or competitive dance experience is an asset
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Strong judgment and the ability to determine what requires immediate attention
Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities and follow tasks through to completion
Strong research and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Robust computer skills and confidence working with spreadsheets, online platforms and new technology
- Professional judgment and discretion when handling confidential information
- Reliable access to a vehicle and the ability to come to the studio as required
Schedule & Compensation
Approximately 20-25 hours per week to start, with the potential for increased hours as the role and studio continue to grow
$23–$28/hour, based on experience
Hybrid position with both remote and on-site work in Kanata
Schedule includes a combination of weekday daytime and evening hours

Year-round, long-term position
Growth Opportunity
We are looking for someone who is interested in building a long-term role with SOMD. As the studio continues to expand, this position has the potential to grow in hours and responsibilities, with opportunities to progress into a more senior role within studio operations.
