This position serves as a subject matter expert on regulatory, security, and contractual compliance requirements, supporting the organization from early bid stages through to program execution.

Acting as a key bridge between external obligations and internal operations, the Advisor interprets customer and regulatory requirements (including ITAR, Controlled Goods, and international security frameworks) and translates them into practical, scalable processes. You will proactively assess Fleetway’s readiness, identify risks and gaps, and partner across the business to implement strong, sustainable compliance controls.

This role is both strategic and hands-on—enabling informed business decisions, strengthening governance, and ensuring the organization is positioned to meet evolving compliance demands in the defence sector.

- Analyze obligations related to ITAR/EAR, Controlled Goods Program (CGP), UK security controls, and other jurisdictional frameworks
- Provide clear guidance to business development and contracts teams on compliance feasibility, risks, and implementation considerations

Evaluate Internal Processes and Controls

- Conduct assessments of current processes, procedures, and controls against defence compliance requirements
- Identify gaps, inefficiencies, or areas of potential risk
- Provide recommendations to strengthen internal controls and ensure audit readiness

Maintain Compliance Gap Analysis and Risk Roadmap

- Develop and maintain a structured compliance framework aligned with regulatory obligations

- Perform gap analyses and risk assessments across programs and functions
- Establish and track prioritized mitigation actions and continuous improvement initiatives

Develop and Improve Compliance Processes

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Programs, Engineering, IT, HR) to design and implement compliant processes
- Support the rollout of recent controls, tools, and procedures to enhance compliance maturity
- Drive continuous improvement and standardization of compliance practices across the organization

Monitor Regulatory Environment and Advise the Business

- Stay current on changes to defence, security, and export control regulations
- Assess the impact of regulatory changes on Fleetway’s operations and program delivery
- Provide timely, practical advice to leadership and project teams to support decision-making

Qualifications

- College diploma in Engineering, Business, Law, Security, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in defence, aerospace, shipbuilding, or another regulated industry
- Strong understanding of export controls (ITAR/EAR), Controlled Goods Program, or similar frameworks
- Experience interpreting contract requirements and translating them into operational processes
- Background in security compliance and working within customer-driven regulatory environments
- Familiarity with CGP registration (preferred)
- ITAR/export compliance training (an asset)
