- Paid professional development OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director ofCare is responsible for the overall management and supervision of ShawenimAbinoojii’s (SAI’s) Northern, Southern and Sacred Care Programs. The Director of Care is part of the seniormanagement team and is responsible for program development and implementation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Oversee the planning,implementation and evaluation of the Care Programs and services.
- Ensure the programs andservices offered by the organization contribute to the organization's missionand reflect the priorities and strategic objectives of SAI.
- Conduct ongoing programdevelopment that meets and/or exceeds Provincial Foster Care LicensingStandards and/or the standards set out by First Nations with respect to FosterCare services.
- Development of unique andrequired Foster Care Resources that respond to the needs of the children andfamilies of the Southeast First Nations (Bloodvein, Hollow Water, BrokenheadOjibway Nation, Berens River, Poplar River, Pauingassi, Little Grand Rapids andBlack River).
- Maintain awareness ofresearch and reports related to Foster Care Services and strategize proactiveimplementation of appropriate recommendations.
- Provide direction andsupport to the Southern Care, Northern Care and Sacred Care ProgramSupervisors.
- Approve House Parentapplicants for all Care Programs.




- Assess and monitor qualityof service provisions and ensure efficiencies of the program.
- Track and monitorstatistics of program effectiveness for reporting purposes.
- Monitor the financialguidelines for all Care Programs.
- Maintain consistent andconcise communication with the Executive Director through monthly and annualreports.
- Participate in operationalplanning and decision-making processes alongside SAI Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS

- MSW or BSW and 5+years of related experience in the field.
- 3-5 years ofSupervisory experience.
- Knowledge in the areaof Addiction and Trauma.
- Knowledge of the Childand Family Services (CFS) sector and legislation.
- Demonstrate knowledgeand/or understanding of Indigenous perspectives, First Nations culture andtraditional philosophies.
- Strong interpersonalskills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a highattention to detail.
- Ability to prioritizetasks and create workplans.
- Excellent oral andwritten communication skills.
- Experience developingand supporting a strong, efficient and respectful team-based approach toservice delivery.
- Understanding ofCommunity living in the Southeast region.
- Strong proficiency inMicrosoft Office, word processing (MS Word), Spreadsheets (Excel), E-mail(Outlook) and Internet.
- Excellentcommunication, organization, problem solving and team skills.
- Must have a validclass 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle and acceptable Driver’sAbstract are a condition of employment.
- Must have clearCriminal Record (vulnerable Sector Check), Child and Adult Abuse RegistryCheck, and Prior contact Check.
