Please note: This opportunity is for Director of Care (DOC) positions located in Lancaster and Prescott, Ontario . We are seeking experienced Directors of Care (DOCs) or Assistant Directors of Care (ADOCs) with long-term care (LTC) experience who are open to relocating to either Lancaster or Prescott. A relocation bonus is available for qualified candidates moving from the Ottawa or Kingston areas.

Position

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Care (DOC) to lead the delivery of resident health and personal care services within a long-term care/senior living environment.

We welcome applications from experienced Directors of Care (DOCs) as well as Assistant Directors of Care (ADOCs) who are Registered Nurses (RNs) and are ready to advance into a Director of Care leadership role. This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging clinical leader looking to take the next step in their career.

This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, and a positive experience for residents and their families while providing strong clinical leadership to the nursing team.

Job Responsibilities

- Lead and oversee resident care, including assessments and individualized care planning.
- Delegate, assign, supervise, and evaluate nursing team activities.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality health and personal care services.
- Maintain accurate and compliant clinical documentation.
- Coordinate and participate in interdisciplinary care conferences.
- Review pre-admission assessments and support resident admissions and transitions.
- Monitor resident health status and communicate changes with physicians, families, and the interdisciplinary team.




- Oversee medication administration, treatments, and physician orders.
- Coordinate laboratory, diagnostic, pharmacy, and other healthcare services.
- Manage incident reporting, quality improvement initiatives, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead infection prevention and control initiatives.
- Recruit, mentor, schedule, coach, and evaluate nursing staff.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and resident-centered culture.
- Build solid relationships with residents, families, healthcare partners, and external service providers.

Qualifications

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is required.
- Eligible to practice in Ontario if currently registered in another Canadian province.
- Current Director of Care (DOC) experience or Assistant Director of Care (ADOC) experience in a Long-Term Care (LTC) or senior living environment is required.
- ADOCs must demonstrate readiness to transition into a Director of Care role.
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive clinical leadership experience , preferably in Long-Term Care or senior living.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Strong knowledge of Long-Term Care legislation, regulatory standards, and best practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health documentation systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Passion for resident-centered care and continuous quality improvement.

Additional Requirements

- Recent Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Current TB test or chest X-ray as required.
- Two supervisory references.
- Proof of required vaccinations.
