Accident Benefits Administrator
Location: Ottawa, ON
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent - On-site Monday - Friday
Salary: $60,000 + Comprehensive Benefits (following probation)
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Accident Benefits Administrator to join a collaborative legal team specializing in personal injury and accident benefits matters. This role is ideal for someone with a legal or insurance background who enjoys managing files, communicating with clients, and working in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in administering accident benefits claims in accordance with Ontario's Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS), while supporting legal counsel throughout the claims and litigation process.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and administer accident benefits files in compliance with the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS) .
- Review and analyze client eligibility and entitlement to accident benefits.
- Assist clients with completing and submitting required SABS forms and documentation.
- Maintain regular communication with insurance adjusters regarding claim status and benefit approvals.
- Respond to client inquiries and provide clear guidance throughout the claims process.
- Coordinate Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs), CAT assessments, case conferences, transportation, and interpreter services as required.
- Prepare clients for case conferences, IMEs, and other assessments.
- Assist legal counsel with preparing evidence and documentation for Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT) hearings.
- Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date client files while ensuring confidentiality and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in accident benefits, personal injury, legal administration, insurance, or a related field.
- Legal education is strongly preferred, including:
- Bachelor of Arts with a major in Law or Criminology;
- Paralegal diploma; or
- Legal Assistant diploma.
- Knowledge of Ontario's Statutory Accident Perks Schedule (SABS) is preferred. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines.
- Robust verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional and compassionate client service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Fluency in English is required
