Education Assistant The Coldwater School is inviting qualified applicants to apply for the position of Education Assistant.

Qualifications

- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Education Assistant Certification preferred, but not necessary
- Valid BC Class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
- Experience working with school-age children in a classroom setting
- Experience assisting in multi-graded classrooms is an asset
- Food Safe Certificate, First Aid Certificate, WHMIS Certificate.
- Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the routine exchange of information

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

- Assists the Early Childhood Educator and Early Childhood Manager, and students
- Collaborates with Early Childhood Educator and Early Childhood Manager on strategies and accommodations that support student learning. Will be a part of implementing (IEP) Individual Education Plan.
- Assists in preparing the classroom and other school facilities for student learning and activities
- Assists in the supervision of students in and outside the classroom, including field trips
- Works individually with students in the classroom as assigned and under the teacher's guidance, including reading to students, listening to their reading, assisting students with assignments, reinforcing overall Teacher expectations of students,



and assisting with/language goals with the students.
- Assists in preparing materials to support student learning and ability as assigned and under the guidance of the Early Childhood Educator/Early Childhood Manager/ or Teacher.
- Participates, as required or directed, and as a team member in periodic meetings with Teachers, students and parents/guardians to plan and revise educational programs and activities.
- Will collaborate to create an inclusive learning workplace.

Preference will be given to those applicants who:

- This position is open to all applicants; Coldwater Indian Band members may receive priority
- have a minimum of two years' experience
- have Aboriginal ancestry (as per Special Program with the BC Human Rights Tribunal)

Wage

- Hourly wage range of $19.00 - $22.00, including wage enhancement
