Position Overview
We are seeking an Embedded Systems Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and validate firmware and embedded software for multi-processor systems. This role requires strong C programming, real-time systems experience, and the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test system-level firmware
- Build and maintain embedded applications on system-on-chip platforms
- Optimize system performance, memory usage, and video data paths
- Integrate image-processing and computer-vision capabilities
- Support system bring-up, debugging, and customer-reported issues
- Develop tools for engineering teams and customers
- Create validation plans and provide technical guidance
Required Qualifications
- Four or more years of embedded software development experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Robust C programming and debugging skills
- Experience with real-time operating systems
- Knowledge of multithreading, memory management, optimization, and interrupt handling
- Working knowledge of Python
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work onsite in Toronto four days per week
Canadian work experience is not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Board Support Packages
- Knowledge of I2C, UART, SPI, and Ethernet
- Experience with multi-core or multi-processor systems
- Automotive or safety-critical software development experience
- Knowledge of AUTOSAR
- Experience with camera, imaging, or video-processing systems
- Familiarity with encryption, authentication, and secure key storage
