YES Employment + Entrepreneurship is looking for an Employment Counsellor to play a key role in launching our new Laval service location.

This is a unique prospect for someone who wants to combine career counselling, community outreach, partnership building, and program delivery while helping strengthen access to employment services for English-speaking Quebecers. About YES Employment + Entrepreneurship Founded in 1995, YES Employment + Entrepreneurship is a community-based non-profit organization that helps Quebecers find employment, start businesses, and develop professional skills through accessible, client-centered services. For more than 30 years, YES has empowered individuals to achieve their career and entrepreneurial goals while contributing to stronger and more inclusive communities across Quebec.

Position Overview Reporting to the Project Manager, the Employment Counsellor will provide individualized employment counselling, facilitate workshops, develop community partnerships, and support the growth of YES's presence in Laval. This position combines direct client service with outreach activities designed to increase awareness of YES services and connect local residents with employment opportunities and resources.

The successful candidate will become an ambassador for YES in Laval, helping establish meaningful relationships with community organizations, educational institutions, employers, and local stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Employment Counselling & Client Support

Provide one-on-one employment counselling and career planning services.

Support clients with goal setting, job search strategies, career transitions, and labour market exploration.

Assist with CV and cover letter development, interview preparation,



networking strategies, and professional branding.

Help clients navigate modern recruitment practices, including applicant tracking systems (ATS), virtual interviewing, and digital job search tools.

Maintain accurate client records and service documentation.

Workshop

Facilitation & Program Delivery

Develop and facilitate employment-related workshops and group sessions.

Create and update workshop materials and resources.

Contribute to the development of online learning and digital resources in collaboration with internal teams.

Monitor participant progress and support positive client outcomes.

Community

Outreach & Partnership Development

Serve as a key representative of YES within Laval and surrounding communities.

Conduct outreach activities to increase awareness and participation in YES employment services.

Build relationships with community organizations, schools, educational institutions, employers, and local partners.

Represent YES at networking events, employment fairs, community events, and information sessions.

Identify opportunities to grow participation and strengthen local partnerships. Employer & Mentorship Engagement

Support employer outreach initiatives that facilitate client employment opportunities.

Collaborate with the Mentorship Program team to connect clients with professional mentors and networking opportunities.

What We're Looking For You may be an excellent fit if you have: A Bachelor's degree in Career Development, Human Relations, Social Work, Human Resources, Education, Counselling, or a related field.





A minimum of 3 years of experience in employment counselling, workforce development, career services, or a similar role.

Strong knowledge of employment search strategies and labour market trends.

Experience facilitating workshops or group learning sessions.

Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Comfort using MS Office, CRM platforms, virtual meeting tools, and other digital technologies.

A valid driver's licence and access to reliable transportation is considered an asset for community outreach activities.

French language skills are an asset. As an organization delivering services in English, this position requires excellent English communication and writing abilities.

Compensation & Benefits 12-month temporary contract

Salary: $50,000-$55,000 annually
