Experienced Welder / Fabricator – Job Site Lead

Valley Mobile Welding Ltd. is looking for an experienced, reliable Welder/Fabricator who is capable of taking responsibility for jobs both in the shop and on site.

We are a growing welding and fabrication company specializing in structural steel, custom fabrication, miscellaneous metals, and in office installation. We are looking for someone who doesn't need to be constantly supervised and is comfortable taking a set of drawings, organizing the work, and helping run a job site from start to finish.

What We're Looking For The right candidate should:

- Have 5+ years of welding/fabrication experience or equivalent experience
- Be a competent SMAW and MIG/FCAW welder
- Have structural steel fabrication and erection experience
- Be comfortable reading structural and fabrication drawings
- Be capable of laying out, fitting and fabricating steel independently
- Be able to take measurements in the field and problem-solve
- Be comfortable running small job sites and directing other employees
- Be able to communicate professionally with customers, general contractors and other trades
- Understand safe rigging, lifting and steel erection practices
- Be comfortable working at heights
- Have good attention to detail and take pride in producing quality work
- Be dependable and honest
- Have a valid G driver's license and reliable transportation

Current CWB welding tickets are an asset. Experience operating forklifts, telehandlers, scissor lifts, boom lifts and other construction equipment is also an asset.

What the Job Involves

This is a hands-on position. You will be expected to weld and fabricate alongside the rest of the crew while also being capable of taking the lead when working on site.





Typical work includes

- Structural steel fabrication
- Structural steel installation and erection
- Stairs, railings and miscellaneous metals
- Field welding and modifications
- Reading drawings and determining the best order of operations
- Coordinating work with other trades on site
- Directing one or more employees when required
- Communicating job progress and material/equipment requirements with management

You don't need to know everything, but you need to be experienced enough to recognize when something isn't right and know when to ask questions before proceeding.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with overtime and occasional longer days as required for installations. Location: Grand Valley, Ontario, with travel to job sites primarily throughout Southern Ontario. Some projects may require overnight/out-of-town stays. Travel time is paid, and hotel accommodations, meals and per diem are provided for overnight work.

Job Types: Apprenticeship, Full-time

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour

- Grand Valley, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:
- Welding: 1 year (preferred)
- Construction: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:
- CWB welder certificate (preferred)
