ORLEN Upstream Canada’s goal is to build significant positions on a portfolio of emerging light oil resource plays in Alberta, Canada.

The Opportunity

We have an prospect for a Field Contract Operator (Contract Position) to join our Kakwa Facilities located 90 km’s south of Grande Prairie. As a Contract Operator, you will interact and coordinate with a team of operators and maintenance staff to ensure production, quality and environmental targets are met for our operations. You will be able to contribute to the reliability and safe operations of our facility and work with many key internal and external stakeholders.

This position reports to the Shift Team Lead. Shift schedule will be 15 days on/13 days off rotation, days only and on-call for nights. As this is a camp position, candidates are not required to live in the local area.

Key Accountabilities

- Utilize operations expertise in a dynamic production environment, maintain and optimize equipment and processes, as well as collaborate with members of the team to oversee the day-to-day plant activities.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform area maintenance activities and housekeeping.

Recommend modifications to plant processes where performance can be improved,



which will require working with various teams on preventative maintenance and ensure equipment is running efficiently and safely.
- Identify and scope out continuous improvement opportunities to maximize production, minimize operating costs and eliminate downtime. Maintain proper documentation on a shift-by-shift basis including operating logs, maintenance records and safety and environmental reports.
- Follow all ORLEN’s safety guidelines as well as ensure all safety documentation is completed for all personnel working in the facility under operations care.

Requirements
- Have or be able to get a contracting company established.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the oil and gas industry.
- Experience working in a sour gas plant or field will be considered an asset.
- Ability to adapt to process changes and modifications.
- Demonstrated computer literacy and knowledge of automated operations systems.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills.
- Team player mentality and able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work overtime and respond off hours as part of an “On Call” schedule while on shift.
- Current certifications in H2S Alive, First Aid, TDG, WHMIS.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
