About the role: Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Part-Time Finance and Accounting Assistant will support the day-to-day financial operations of the organization by ensuring the accurate processing, reconciliation, and reporting of financial information. This role plays an important part in maintaining the integrity of financial records, supporting grant and funder reporting requirements, and contributing to the organization’s overall financial stewardship.





The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and proactive, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. They are comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and collaborating effectively with colleagues across the organization while seeking guidance when needed.

As the successful candidate, you have:

- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, or finance support role.

Experience working in a non-profit, charitable organization, or grant funded organization. Experience preparing financial reports for funders, government agencies, and grant programs.

Experience using cloud-based accounting systems.

- Language: Preferred communicating effectively both orally and in writing (English).
- Additional Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reconciliation functions.

Strong organizational and time-management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining data integrity

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgement

Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach and wiliness to take initiative

You’ll also be prepared to

- Review vendor invoices and expense claims to ensure accurate coding, HST/GST treatment, rebate eligibility, and compliance with organizational policies
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including monitoring aged receivables and following up on outstanding payments as required
- Prepare account receivable, accounts payable, and other financial reports to support decision-making and cash flow monitoring
- Monitor and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts, investigate variances, and support monthly account analysis and reporting
- Assist in the preparation of monthly or quarterly financial reports for department managers and support the accuracy and completeness of financial records across programs and cost centres.
- Assist in preparing financial reports for funders and internal stakeholders
- Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis,



match deposits to contractual invoices and funding agreements, and investigate discrepancies as required
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation in accordance with organizational policies, audit requirements, and regulatory standards
- Support finance projects and ad hoc reporting as required
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
- Collaborate with program teams and managers to support accurate financial tracking of grants, contracts, and restricted funding.
