About North Terra Construction

North Terra Construction Ltd. is a Vaughan-based excavation and earthworks contractor working throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Our projects range from industrial, commercial, and institutional developments to high-rise condominium excavation and large-scale site development.

We are looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator who is confident operating a variety of excavation and earthmoving equipment and understands how to work safely and productively as part of an excavation crew.

Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for:

- Safely and efficiently operating excavators, dozers, articulated rock trucks, packers/rollers, and other heavy equipment
- Performing bulk and detailed excavation
- Excavating for building footings, foundations, services, and other structural elements
- Loading trucks efficiently while maintaining secure working conditions
- Rough and fine grading
- Placing and grading granular materials
- Backfilling and compacting excavations to required specifications
- Maintaining safe excavation slopes and working around shoring systems
- Working from grades, stakes, elevations, and site instructions
- Performing daily equipment inspections and identifying maintenance or safety concerns
- Working closely with supervisors, labourers, surveyors, truck drivers, and other operators
- Maintaining good production while protecting existing structures, services, and surrounding work




- Keeping equipment and work areas clean, organized, and protected
- Following all company safety policies and Ontario construction safety requirements

Qualifications
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in excavation, earthworks, civil construction, or site development
- Strong excavator operating skills are preferred
- Experience operating multiple pieces of equipment, including excavators, dozers, rock trucks, and packers
- Experience with building excavation, backfill, compaction, and grading
- Ability to understand grades and elevations
- Ability to work safely around people, trucks, structures, utilities, and other equipment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a crew
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work productively with limited supervision
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation to GTA job sites
- GPS/machine-control experience is considered an asset

Candidates should be comfortable working on active construction sites throughout the GTA and moving between projects as required.

Only candidates with relevant heavy equipment operating and excavation/earthworks experience will be considered.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50.00-$60.00 per hour
