OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Director of Human Resource, the Human Resource Generalist will be responsible for providing guidance on HR policies, employee relations, performance management, and workplace issues while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Primary contact for handling employee inquiries and workplace concerns while maintaining accurate documentation.
· Investigate employee complaints, grievances and workplace conflicts in a fair, timely and confidential manner.
· Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
· Support managers in Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
· Monitor and ensure employee performance reviews are scheduled and in compliance with organization policies and guidelines.
· Coordinate organizations performance review process with supervisors.
· Guide employees with performance review process and career development.
· Create employee job descriptions and job postings.
· Stay up to date with current recruiting methods.
· Must have extensive knowledge of recruitment strategies and assist with all aspects of recruitment including offboarding when needed.
· Promote employee engagement and retention initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of post-secondary education with a focus in Human Resources Management or a related discipline is required.
- 2- 3 years related experience.
- Skilled in conflict resolution and respectful communication.
- Familiar with HR databases, applicant tracking systems and candidate management systems.
- Knowledge of Employment Standards, Labour Law, Workplace Safety and Health and Human Rights.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office, word processing (MS Word), Spreadsheets (Excel), E-mail (Outlook) and Internet.
- Knowledge of the Child and Family Services (CFS) sector and legislation an asset but not mandatory.
- Demonstrate knowledge and/or understanding of Indigenous perspectives, First Nations culture and traditional philosophies.
- Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle and acceptable Driver’s Abstract are a condition of employment.
- Must have clear Criminal Record (vulnerable Sector Check), Child and Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Prior contact Check.
